Beach trip!

I was determined to get a beach trip in this summer!  It got crazy busy, so we could only make a day trip to Corpus, but it was worth it!  The only downside was that Daddy couldn't join us!
Look at all these friends we took with us!

Poppy was TERRIFIED of the wind at first.  She cried and clung to me for an hour before she felt safe enough to play.  Once she got used to it, though, she loved the sand and the surf.  Several times I had to pull her back in from swimming to Mexico!

Lachlan loved it, especially since he didn't need his life jacket.

Reef spent most of the day digging and building castles.

Such fun memories were made, and we can't wait to do it again next summer!

Fun with Mr. Rob

We had a fun evening of dinner and swimming at the Andersons' house!  The kids thought swimming with Mr. Rob was THE best!

Peyton's Party

We were so excited to go Peyton's birthday party at the Magik Theater.  We took Reef and Jonas when they were little, but this was the first time for Poppy and Lachlan!  They loved the show!

Getting autographs.

They were pooped after so much party fun!

Free Food Friday!

This year Dress Like a Cow Day at Chik Fil A fell on the same day as free slurpee day at 7-11!  What fun to get free treats at 2 different places!
I was tired of making trash bag cow costumes, so we upgraded to t-shirts this year!  They had a blast potato-printing, and now we are set for a couple years!
Jude and Melynda joined us for lunch this year.  We only made it to CFA once this year, a little disappointing since we usually squeeze in 2 meals on Cow day!  We will have to raise the bar next year!
And after nap we headed to 7-11.  This was a first for my kids and they loved it!

4th of July Fun

For 4th of July this year we headed to the Goodmans' Ranch.  They guys needed to do some Survivor building, and us wives decided to tag along!
I was worried at first about it being too crowded, too hot, too much work... I really wasn't sure I wanted to go, but we ended up having a great time!
We drove the Polarises.
And Reef proved to be a pretty good driver!
We shot guns.

And found TONS of shell casings.
This girl was OBSESSED with the horses and the pigs.  She had no fear, and we had to keep a close eye on her!
At night we had s'mores.

And witnessed a very fancy fireworks display.

Can you see the pigs in this picture?  The kids had a blast chasing those poor baby pigs!
Everyone was excited when Josh caught one for them to pet.

My whole world is in this picture!  Love it!
We hiked to the river for some wading.
 Lachlan "found" this turtle shell.
Then they practiced slingshots.

After a failure with a slip n slide and water guns, we enlisted the men's help in filling water balloons.  A fun game of water balloon baseball followed.

Until that got boring and a water balloon fight started!

Our whole crew!  We missed the Hills and the Bennetts, our other Survivor families.
Just the boys, because Poppy wasn't in the mood for more pictures...
 BFF's.

We had such a fun time and are thinking of making it a tradition!

Teach Them Diligently 2014

In June, I headed to Dallas for the Teach Them Diligently homeschool conference.  At the last minute, Kristin and Kristina were able to join me to make it even more fun!  Us girls took no pictures but came away inspired by all the awesome speakers we heard!
Mike and Troy got the kids together for pizza and a movie while we were gone, and they did manage to take pictures!  Looks like they had a good time, too!

Zoo Date with Lily

The boys went to 2 reading camps in the summer.  Poor Poppy was too little for both!  One morning we stole Lily and headed to the zoo!  It's fun to do the zoo with 2 little girls who still think everything is amazing!
They got to ride the carousel, which has tons of cool animals to choose from!

This how we make a "double" stroller!

We had such a good time and hope to do it again soon!
