Tooth Fairy, pt. 1

After much anticipation, the first tooth was finally lost at the Gibbins house!  Jonas had a loose tooth for awhile, but the dentist pointed out a slightly loose tooth in Reef’s mouth in June.  The race was on!
Reef wiggled that tooth like crazy and was the first one to lose his tooth!  He was so excited!  Jonas was devastated; there were real tears.


We put the tooth in a special envelope that hangs on the doorknob, just to be sure the Tooth Fairy could find the tooth without waking anyone up.  Reef was excited to find $2 and a receipt for his tooth the next day, but he is wondering why he didn’t get as much money as Ethan.  Thanks a lot, Zimmers!

4th of July!

For the 4th of July this year, we headed to the zoo!  As members we get to go in early and since Troy was off, we decided to try it.  As a surprise, the Zimmers were able to join us, which made it that much more fun!
We always have to take a pic with the lions.  I’m not sure where Poppy was…

We couldn’t visit the zoo and skip Poppy’s beloved goats.  Mr. Jerry should be so proud!

We ended the morning with a dip in the wading area, a first for the Zimmer kids!  It had been while since we’d been there too, and the water was definitely more shallow now that my kids are bigger!  Not sure we need to do that again… It was a fun trip, and we got out of there just before the crowds got crazy.

June 2013 Dates

Reef was so excited about his June date!  He anxiously awaited the arrival of Despicable Me 1 at the library for his movie night.


The movie was actually better than I thought it would be.  We are excited the see the sequel as a family.

Jonas chose ice cream with Daddy.

He was especially excited to fill his own cups.

He was so happy to have 4 flavors and TONS of toppings!

Lachlan enjoyed his movie night in May that he picked it again in June!  It actually worked out really well because his brothers were at Fantastic Friday (which he is too young for…again this year).  He picked BusyTown again; yay! 

But it was scratched too much, so we switched to a Land Before Time.  Good thing we had back ups from the library!


Poppy’s date has no pictures….and actually happened in July…oops… We spent the morning running errands while her brothers were at Reading Camp and then headed to the bookstore for some lego building and animal purse rearranging.

The end of an era

As many of you know, Poppy climbed out of her crib just after her birthday.  This led to weeks of bedtime battles and sleepless nights.  After a week, we realized she wasn’t going back into this bed:

So, Troy and Reef packed it up.  The end of the crib era is bittersweet.  It means she is growing too fast and becoming a big girl.  We’ve already gone on our first vacation sans pack n play, and it went better than expected.  She is doing great in her big girl twin bed after we let her pick out new sheets and a comforter and as long as she has her princess, goatie, little Bible.

Let’s go ride a bike!

At the end of June, Jonas mastered riding a bike without training wheels!  It wasn’t easy an easy process (more of a battle, really), but he was so proud when he got it.  I’m sure it will get easier when the fall comes and it is cool enough to ride.

1/2 Price Shake Day

Y’all, one day I’m going to catch up on this blog!  Everytime I think I’m getting close, another month ends and a new one begins!
Anyway, Sonic does 1/2 price shakes all summer long but only after 8.  That’s way too late for us to keep this kids up!  So, I was super excited when they announced a day for 1/2 price all day!  We surprised the kids with a trip after dinner, and, of course, they were in love.
Reef loved his…and someone else’s!

It was hard work!

What a fun way to spend a hot summer evening!  Love making memories with my family!

Father’s Day 2013

I kinda feel sorry for Troy on Father’s Day.  He always makes a big deal about Mother’s day, but I never know what to do for Father’s day!
This year Troy got curry:

He loves Thai food, and luckily Wee feeds him leftovers often, but this time I attempted a Thai curry for him.  He says it turned out great even though the rest of his didn’t share in the love.
The kids also make some cute canvases for his office.

For dessert he wanted panna cotta; I can’t even remember if he had to make it himself!  Again, not my favorite thing but a fun way to spoil Troy on his special day!
